Film coating

SEPIFILM™ Classic is a range of ready-to-use gastrosoluble film-coating products based on HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose). The range compromises immediate film-coating agents and gives an elegant finish to tablets. The products are designed for aqueous film-coating and/or organic film-coating. Available in granular or liquid form, in white and in a palette of colors. They can also be combined with the ready-to-use SEPISPERSE™ colouring system to obtain the desired colour.

Tablet coated with SEPIFILM™ and SEPISPERSE™ DRY provide full release of the active in 5 minutes. The dissolution profile of the film-coated tablets is identical to the one of uncoated tablets, showing no delay in API release.

All components the film-coating system are compliant with EP and USP for easier registration.

SEPIFILM™ PW is a HPMC-based ready-to-use, gastro-soluble film coating system that provides an elegant finish to tablets, granules and powders. The HPMC-based system combines a film-forming polymer with a filling agent and plasticizer. It is designed for aqueous film-coating and is also compatible for organic film-coating. Using a low viscosity Hypromellose allowing up to 20% of dry content in the dispersion, the coating time can be reduced by 30% with SEPIFILM™ PW compared to classic HPMC-coatings.

The SEPIFILM™ PW products are available in white, colourless and 11 different colours. The colours are made from a single pigment and can be lightened by SEPIFILM™ PW White. In addition, the SEPIFILM™ PW range can be combined with SEPIFILM™ LP to obtain a coloured moisture protection film-coating.

Tablets coated with SEPIFILM™ shows no delay in API release. The SEPIFILM™ PW brings an increased hardness to the coated tablets without impacting neither the dissolution, nor the disintegration of the tablets. Full release of the active is performed within 5 minutes.

All components in SEPIFILM™ PW comply with the applicable European, US and JP pharmaceutical regulations.

SEPIFILM™ SN is a ready-to-use system designed for film-coating of solid particles that are fragile or sensitive to moisture. It is a shellac-based organic liquid film-coating system that provides high protection against moisture, UV, air oxidation, etc. It acts as a physical barrier with reinforced protection and improves the physical properties of the core including hardness and friability. Sepifilm™ SN also improves the stability of the active ingredient.

SEPIFILM™ SN core sealing agent is applied before non-functional film-coating agents such as SEPIFILM™ Classic or a moisture-protection coating agent such as Sepifilm™ LP. The core sealing agent is applied by ladling or a spray gun, diluted at 50% with ethanol (up to 70%) depending on the viscosity acceptance, nozzle size and pumping device. Dosage is 1-3% of the mass of the core to ensure its protection role.

Sepifilm™ SC is a ready-to-use film-coating agent designed especially for sugar-coating processes. The sugar- and hypromellose-based Sepifilm™ SC formulation provides a homogeneous and reproducible film-coating enabling perfect sugar-coated pills, chewing gums and tablets. Its’ granular form makes it easy and quickly to disperse in water. It provides a fine, smooth, white-coloured film coating with a glossy appearance and a slightly sweet taste. The sugar-coating can also give tablets protection against moisture and light.
